Poor Peanut Butter

Just a heads-up, because I know a lot of bloggers/blog readers eat these:General Mills is recalling Larabar Peanut Butter Cookie snack bars and JamFrakas Peanut Butter Blisscrisp snack bars. (How did I not know Larabar was owned by General Mills?) No illnesses have been reported from people eating these bars, so it doesn’t seem like there’s anything to worry about; it’s just precautionary.Still, here’s some chocolate-covered advice: stick to yummy non-peanut-buttered chocolate Jocalat bars for the next few days ;o)(As if I needed an excuse to eat more of those…)I’ll be back later, with a real post. ‘Til then, let’s hope that all those amazing Peanut Butter and Co. flavors come out of this pb mess unscathed!

  1. Oh no! WHat is going on? PB Cookie Larabars are my favorite- I still have 2 left in my pantry! Are they okay to eat? I will miss them dearly :(

  2. Oh NO! I have a PB Larabar in my pantry, I guess I will have to say goodbye =(I just stopped at Trader Joes and all the PB JamFrakas were gone…I was sad but at least now I know why!Oh and I read on their website that the PB&Co products are not affected! Thanks for the heads up CCV!!!

  3. Hmmm…I assume this also applies to Canada. And to think, I have 2 new PB Larabars sitting on my counter. I wonder if the store will take them back and refund the money since it’s a recall.

  4. Thanks for the heads-up!I”m trying to avoid PB for a little while anyway, what with it being a trigger food and all. BUT this is another good reason!

  5. Grrrrrrrr I just found out about this. I have four PB jamfrakas sitting in my pantry :[ And I totally didn’t realize that Larabars were owned by general mills. I’m kind of bummed.

  6. love pb and co! the restaurant is right down the block from my office. Their weekly specials menu has the most amazing pb sandwich ideas, you can check it out online.

  7. Yikes, PB larabars? NO! I guess I’m kind of glad I have none in my stash right now though, just in case! I would be so torn if I did… I’ll bet I’d have eaten it anyway though.. I like to live on the edge I guess ;) PS – The White Chocolate Wonderful lives up to it’s name and more. It’s BEYOND Wonderful.

  8. I know I just heard about the PB famine… so sad! =( But atleast some manufactuers products aren’t affected, or that jar of organic natural PB that’s been sitting in your pantry for a month or so! I’ll have to live on other larabars than the snickers-like PB cookie… =(

  9. i'm so glad you posted this! thank you thank you thannk you!! my mom actually just emailed me 5 secs ago from work (she's a night nurse) and said that the hospital has BANNED ALL PEANUT BUTTER and removed peanut butter foods from patient meals! i thought she was kidding! this is crazy but i hope PB&CO is ok too because im planning on having some tomorrow ;)

  10. Ugh, I just bought some PB Larabars. Ate one yesterday…feeling okay though. Just another reason people should switch to almond butter…for a little while anyway. I can’t live without my PB!

  11. i am glad that i came across this because i was JUST about to place an order through amazon, seriously, for the peanut butter cookie larabars! thanks!

  12. WHAT!?! My beloved Larabars! Blasphemy!!!! Oh well, I suppose the world has bigger problems. I may just end up ordering the pb & co online b/c I've got to know what everyone is talking about! It's good to be back, blogging, and catching up on your posts!

  13. I had no idea General Mills made Larabars! I wish big corporate companies would stop being behind my favorite snacks. I mean, I’ll still eat them. But it kinda sucks cause I know Gen Mills makes some yucky stuff too.
