Where are those promised Vitamix posts?

Ok, let’s finish off Things that are Green week (from oh-so-long ago) so we can move on to Vitamix Week, because I know that’s what everyone really wants to see.
Shrek Pudding (and other adventures in Greenland)
Here we have something I’ve dubbed “Shrek Pudding.” But don’t bother remembering the name; you WON’T be seeing this pudding on my blog ever again.
Looks cool? Tastes gross.
Chlorophyll much?

Using my Agar Pudding base, I whipped up a green pudding, with Alive brand protein powder (Creamy Granola flavor). Unfortunately for my taste buds, this tasted chalky and vitamin-y (in a bad way). After about three bites, I threw the mess out. Sorry Shrek.

Luckily, there were still yummy crepe-cakes to be eaten, so I was able to have a delicious snack, grassy pudding notwithstanding. Crepe-cakes save the day!

Other GreenLand adventures:

Cutest green bowl EVER (with perfectly-puffy kamut cereal, sweet frozen strawberries, and velvety almond milk)

My favorite green tea

This snake is green too… but definitely not for eating! I’m sure that even my non-vegan readers will agree with me, right guys?

Homemade broccoli soup is green, too… but we’ll visit him again during Vitamix Week.

Chocolate-Covered Words of the Day
1. Today, I am thankful to know River, of the always-entertaining blog, Wing-It Vegan. One reason I’m so happy to know River is that in a world where most media messages cater to people who are overweight, it’s nice to not be alone on the other side of the boat; River knows what it’s like to struggle to GAIN weight and that for some of us, gaining weight is not (lame pun alert!) a piece of cake. But I’m also happy to know River because her culinary creations are adorable! If you haven’t yet seen River’s blog, I suggest you go there right now; you won’t be disappointed. From snowman mashed potatoes to gingerbread-men pancakes to strawberry santa hats, River’s creativity never fails to put a smile on my face. And, if it’s possible, she’s even kinder than she is creative. River, you ROCK! (And no, River, you didn’t freak me out… because I love you too hehe!)

Guess what the topic for my next post’ll be. If you guessed “Vitamix” you’re correct! And if you guessed “chocolate” you’re also correct!

  1. I used to like that Alive stuff but then I noticed a really weird aftertaste so I stopped using it.Mmm, that cereal looks like a bowl full of heaven =)I can’t wait for Vita-Mix week! I was showing my mom all the things it can do and I can feel her caving a bit. I neeeeeeed one!!!

  2. the shrek pudding actually looks somewhat appetizing…like a cool cucumber/avacado soup or something…but i guess nt evverything is meant to be delish… i’m sooo jelous you have a vita-mix, I am dying to get one too! one day hopefully.

  3. Katie-Wow green week, sounds pretty cool to me! (But probably gross to my courpse eating peers!) I never tried Alive shakes but now I certianly won’t! However I do LOVE chocolate hemp shekes blended with organic non dairy milk. The brand: nutivahempshake.com/mmm I know how great vitamix’s are considered, but they’re just SO pricey! How did you ever recieve one!? The crepe cakes, cereal, tea and soup looks pretty good though. And being a huge animal lover, the little garden snake is so cute! Also, River’s blog is awsome! Thanks for the link! Are you on a wieght gain mission too? It’s funny how, in our society, you’re either “pudgey and fat, average or anorexic skinny” even when you’re healthy any way! I blame it on media madness… Can’t wait for the next vitamix post! =)P.S. I got dark chocolate dreams today from whole foods… man, this stuff is like HEAVEN! I don’t think we vegans could live without nutbutter…

  7. I have a question for you about the agar pudding – I followed your recipe as best I could, but my pudding turned out a little too chunky. I was kinda confused about how long to boil it. Any ideas?

  8. Aww, I am blushing and my smile has taken over my whole face! You are too kind! I am so happy to know you, and it’s comforting to know that you really “get” my weight gain struggle. It feels so good not to be the only one, although at the same time I wish you didn’t have to struggle too. I’m so glad my blog makes you smile! That’s the whole point, if my silliness and crazy foods can make people smile for just a little while, then mission accomplished! Thank you so much for such a sweet shout-out, you made my whole month! :) Now bring on the Vitamix posts! Sorry your Shrek Pudding wasn’t good, but at least we’ll always have your Kermit Ice Cream. Oh, and that really IS the cutest green bowl ever!PS: Hello, Mr. Snake!

  17. im slow on posting about mine too…good to know- ill stay away from the green smoothieKelly Turnereverygymsnightmare.com

  18. I love the Vitamix – a great way to add nutrition and flavor to foods, and fun to use! Where do you find agar flakes? I haven’t had much luck finding them.

  19. NOOOOOOOOO! You can’t have Vitamix week! I’ve been dying for a Vitamix for years and you’ll make me GREEN with envy (sorry, I couldn’t help myself :P )

  20. It doesn’t surprise me that Shrek pudding was icky. I have always hated that movie! I guess naming the pudding “Shrek” doomed it from the start… Poo. It’s so sad when you have to pour something down the drain.Kamut is so yummy, so I bet the puffed kamut cereal is too! All those puffed cereals remind me of Kix, my former favorite cereal. I’m excited for the CCV Vitamix week! CCV rocks!

  21. Oooh, sorry about the Shrek pudding. Though, not being a pudding sort of person myself, hat’s off to you for at least giving it a go!

  22. Hi!I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now but never left comments =/ but today i actually started my own blog and hoping to become part of this wonderful healthy blog community!please visit me soon when you have the time and i hope we could become friends!btw I can’t wait until i try some of your recipes!!!! i’ve been a vegan for whole year of 2008 but i’ve recently created LOVE for greek yogurt. =’( i can’t not go on w/o greek yogurt for more than three days. lolaside from that I LOVE fruits and vegetables just like you ;)

  23. I’ve never been able to stomach any sort of smoothies… I think it’s a texture thing! Cute snake though, my sis would agree too – she’s obsessed with reptiles too ;-) Once I hit the million I’ll be definitely looking into the VitaMix. I don’t even have a blender now since I dropped the lid down the (walled-in) side of our pantry!

  24. With all of the Vitamix hype lately I knew it must be a pretty darn good piece of kitchen machinery, but after THIS post I am more in awe of it than ever before. I cannot believe how well it mushes up those fruit to such a perfect consistency without having to add ANYTHING else! It’s revolutionary! I can’t wait to see more!
